Behind the Tow: Season 1 Episode 1

Did you know that SBT is now available in both English and Spanish and airing in the United States, United Kingdom, Austalia, New Zealand, across South America, and Mexico? There's a mini-marathon starting at 3:00 p.m. EST in the US, and I know episodes are airing in the UK tonight. Both are focuesed on Season 1 so I thought it would be nice to revisit the very first episode.

Let me refresh your memory, in episode one we meet Muffin, an adorable ball of fur. A call for a tow came in, but what the caller didn't realize wa that there was a dog carrier locked inside the car. No matter how many times I see it, it always amazes me how people can forget an adorable puppy like Muffin in the back of their car. But as horrible as Muffin's situation was, I have seen worse, including children being left in a locked car.

There always seems to be two view points on the issue of leaving pets in the car. Most people are moritfied by the idea and others are completely unpased. Generally, those that are unphased believe that animals are different than leaving a child in the car. Family is family; when we make a choose to bring a pet home, that animal deserves the respect we would expect of a family member.

What I find shocking is that people don't realize that they've done anything wrong. People think that cracking a window is the solution, but really it just prolongs the suffering of the animal left inside the car. Of course these same people would NEVER sit it the same car with the windows all the way down without the air conditioning running. My point is simple; if you wouldn't do it, why would you do it to the Muffins of the world?

If yo ever come across an animal locked in a car, I beg yo to call animal control or the police. Your phone call could save an animals life. That animal may not have the words to express their gratitude, but their wagging tail and those kisses will be all the thanks you need.
